My experience in archaeology has heavily involved Sonoma State, starting as a field tech shortly
after completing my undergraduate Anthropology degree. Following several years as a field
tech and later as a Cultural Resource Manager at a local Environmental firm, I returned to the
ASC as a staff archaeologist in 2008. I have extensive experience surveying, recording, and
excavating Native American and historic-era archaeological sites throughout California as crew,
crew chief, and field director; authoring and co-authoring dozens of CEQA and Section 106
reports. I also direct the technological studies at the ASC, including GIS analysis, Ground
Penetrating Radar (GPR), and UAV (Drone) based photography, and Photogrammetric 3D
modeling of artifacts, cultural features, and sites. I have completed a CAL-OSHA-approved 40-
hour Hazardous Waste Site Worker’s Health and Safety Training program, am an FAA-Part 107
certified Drone Pilot, and am an Accredited Advanced GPR Practitioner.
I primarily teach courses involving technology and it’s use in Cultural Resource Management,
with a focus on non-invasive and non-destructive techniques and methodologies.
